Thanks in mostly to research I did here on archived posts, I decided to buy a used 755. Seller said it is a 98, but I have to check the s/n to be sure. I bought it with 658 hours, 4WD, 70 loader with 60" bucket, turf tires, ~50" Befco tiller, and 60" King Kutter finish mower for $9500 in Illinois. My first questions:-The rear tires have the valve stems on the outside. This appears to be the narrow setup? And I should change it since I'm not using a belly mower? (Actually I don't plan to do any *lawn* mowing with it).-If I read the loader manual correctly, they recommend putting 712 lbs of ballast on the 3 pt, and 235 lbs of CaCl PER TIRE, for a total of

I have a 755 and I hope you are as happy with yours as I am with mine. I don't know, off hand, how to extract the date from the s/n. Tire valves outside = narrow set up and you should certainly reverse. Belly mower is irrelevant: I have wide stance w/ 60" belly. I don't use filled tires, I think it is more trouble than it is worth since it is easy enough to weight these machines. For normal loader work, I put about 400 lbs of suitcase weights on a rear weight bar and it is adequate. When I am doing really heavy work, gravel, etc. I have the 800 lb backhoe on. I don't think that is too much weight for the machine provided tires are filled properly, etc. The backhoe does tend to be a little too much weight for running around and doing light chores. This is why I like to use less most of the time. The drawbar is simply pinned in place and can easily be replaced. Don't know about universal fits, but they should be easily available from a JD dealer. Good luck and enjoy. ....

Thanks for the feedback! The reason I mentioned the belly mower is that the owner's manual says you have to keep the tires narrow for using the mower. Glad to hear that you found otherwise. Do you have turf tires? What size? I think I'll start without CaCl in the tires and add weight at the 3pt hitch. So far I am very impressed by the tractor. I think it is an excellent fit for my building, property, and uses. Thanks again.

I have turfs, don't know what size off hand - but I don't think there is an option (I'll look it up tonight if you need it). With the 4WD, I have not done anything that I wish I had more traction for. Digging holes with the loader, digging out small stumps with the loader (before getting the backhoe), clearing snow (If using a plow I can imagine needing more grip, but I use the loader and when I slip I carry it to the side). At 20hp, I've stalled it and wished for more hp at times before wishing for more traction. ....

The book lists std turfs for the 755 as 31x12.50-15, but mine has 33x12.50-15.
I assume (hope) that it's because it is 4WD. Otherwise I would worry about the front to rear gear ratio relationship. In any event, if the mower doesn't contact the 31 tires, it might still contact my 33 tires....thanks...Don M ....

I see the reference in the book to the 31" rear tires. I checked my machine and it has 33x12.5-15 on the the back and 23x8.5-12 on the front. This is the size on the 855 (MFWD standard) and so I suspect that is the reason for the difference. ....
